Art history major at Vassar?

I'm interested in studying art history so I've made a little research on the best colleges that offer this major and I found Vassar one of them. I was wondering if any current student could clarify a bit the situation... I mean, do you have good resources? I know New York with all its amazing museums is close but I'm guessing it's not that easy to just travel back and forth to NY all day long. How are the teachers and the other art history students?

One of the things that attracted me most to this college was its campus. As I saw on the website, the place is quite amazing with old buildings and alleys and greenery. But of course the beauty of the campus should not count that much as a college selection criterion, right? So... tell me what's unusual about Vassar, what made you choose to go there?

Oh by the way, I should probably ask if I have any chance to be accepted. I'm an international student (from Romania) and today I got my SAT score: 800 CR, 710 M and 720 W (essay: 9). I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed at the essay score since most of my EC activities are somehow related to writing. Most recently I won a national short prose contest and I was rather proud of it. Anyway, in October I will take two or three subject tests: Lit, US History and probably French.

So any thoughts?

Vassar is renowned for its Art History Dept. You cannot go wrong with an Art History Major at Vassar. Good luck!
