Campus Visit Notes for American University

Visit Description:

I loved American. The class was really cool and gave me a feel for the diversity of the student body (it was a class on the middle east and at least 1/4 of the class was middle eastern, making the experience very interesting). The class ended early because the professor was actually leaving to get married, so I got to talk to my class host about what made her pick American, which was a great experience. Lunch at the dining hall was great- lots of vegetarian options. A lot of the people I talked to had no interest in politics but were still really interesting to talk to, and I talked to one IR student who was interning at the state department over the summer. It seemed like American had a very welcoming environment, and the internship/job opportunities seemed amazing. While the info session and tour were pretty run-of-the-mill, the community seemed amazing; this trip definitely moved American into my top 3 schools.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

great options; i'd recommend founding farmers near gw and baked&wired near georgetown
