Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: Yes - The interview was a highly positive experience for my student. The interview went twice as long as the time that was stated to us when my student made the appointment. My student learned quite a bit

Information Session: Yes - Quite good, all of the presenters were very genuine and frank in their responses to questions. There was no sugar coating, which made me feel that I was getting honest answers to my questions.

Campus Tour: Yes - It could have been a little longer, but we had a large group. The tour guide was quite funny and offered to take us into any buildings that we wanted to see.

Overnight Visit: Yes - Very worthwhile, because it gave my student a feel for what the dorms were like. My student came home afterwards with a positive opinion of the dorms and the food.

Classroom Visit: Yes - We saw some classrooms and were greatly impressed with some of the modern buildings.

My student chose to go to AU, largely as a result of four (yes, four!) visits to the university, including a sleep over there. The students in the dorm are like family now, they get along so well.

Absolutely the prettiest campus in DC. You'll want to take photos of all the landscaping and the buildings. Extraordinarily clean and well oranized.

Awesome. Even the older buildings are in good condition. And I can't wait to see the new classroom building, once construction has been completed.

Campus Visit Notes for American University

Visit Description:

Out of 12 universities and colleges that we visited, this was one of the best. My student said that this college just "clicked" and there was no turning back after the visits; applications to other schools were withdrawn, and AU became my student's first choice.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Parking was much easier than I anticipated, with a huge parking lot on Nebraska Avenue, and parking on campus for when we go to visit our student on the weekend.
