Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Excellent session by admissions officer and current student. Stressed 5-school consortium and open curriculum as being the most unique aspects of Amherst.

Campus Tour: Yes - Excellent. Knowledgeable current student. Was able to show off the beautiful buildings and vistas even on this dreary (rainy) day. One of the best tours of our dozen-school trip.

Campus Visit Notes for Amherst College

Visit Description:

Admissions officer and tour guide just did everything well. No complaints. Walking around you can just tell it's in the top tier of schools anywhere. A big endowment doesn't hurt. The consortium was stressed as to de-emphazise the small school/small town aspects. Interesting spin - the Amherst area is apparently the "second largest booking venue" in the state, so nationally renowned artists/guest speakers are common.
