Campus Visit Notes for Amherst College
Visit Description:
We just had our student move into Pratt dorm, 1st year. The campus is wonderful, the same it has been for all visits. The school let us check in early because we live 3000 miles away and... hurricane Irene was about to hit.
The dorms are phenominal. Valentine, the cafeteria that has received mixed reviews, appears far more than adequate. Half the food you hate, half you love. Ok... problem solved. Eat what you love. The professors have been great. All classed desired were nailed the first day. You don't find this at other schools.
This could NOT have gone any better. Very, very impressed.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
Local lodging is fine. We went cheap but it was fine. No issues.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
Judies is the place to take new parents. It's worth it. Nice. Lot's of small places downtown.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
The strip malls are 2.5 miles from the school and easily accessed. The local town is "townie" type place and proud of it. This is what a college town is supposed to be like.
