Visit Activities:

Campus Tour: Yes - Very helpful. It was nice that they used a microphone so everyone could hear. However, because of the size of the campus, it was impossible to see everything.

I didn't go while school was in session, but everyone seemed very friendly and polite.

Appearance of Campus:

Boston itself is beautiful, and that seems to be what they emphasized. On the other hand, the classrooms and modern art turned me off a little.

Dormitories:

Typical dorm room, a little smaller than I've seen at other places, but definitely livable.

Overall Campus Impression:

Very nice campus, but I thought it was too big, and it seemed like students are more like numbers than actual people.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:

Boston is my favorite city, and the location of BU is incredible. There is so much to do and it's beautiful.

There's always something to do in Boston, and you'll never get bored. It seemed like a lot went on off campus.

Campus Visit Notes for Boston University

Visit Description:

The location was beautiful, but that's the point--it was in Boston. It seemed like all the best things about BU were that it was in Boston. Along the tour, I sometimes wondered if it just felt like a four year vacation in Boston, but with some classes thrown in.

It also seemed like a very big campus with a lot of people, where I felt like I wouldn't really have my own identity. However, everyone seemed very open and friendly, so it wouldn't be hard to find your niche.

My tour was very fun, considering it is such a long walk down a long campus. The guide was interactive and funny, and at one point, made us all stop at the "earthquake" machine to see how big an earthquake we could make. This made me feel good about the school, because it showed me that the students know how to have fun, and it definitely wouldn't be a boring experience.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Parking is terrible, but it's Boston, so that's expected. However, public transportation more than makes up for it. The T is easy to use and can take you anywhere you want to go.
