Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - BU was the most informative that we have seen.. My only complaint was that the question and answer session was very limited. However, the leader managed to cover all aspects of the school.
Campus Tour:
Yes - The tour guide was excellent. He was very familiar with the university and was able to answer all questions. I would recommend taking the 2 hour tour so that you can walk the full campus.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
Tour guide was excellent. He knew the campus and programs well. Students appear to really like the school.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
The Admissions Counselor was well prepared. His talk was very informative and seemed to cover all aspects of the school.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
Given that this is a city campus, I was very impressed with appearance of the grounds of the school.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
We didn't get to see the insides of many of the buildings but what we saw appeared to be in very good condition.
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
The dorm room we saw was very small. It would be nice, if more than one room type could be seen-given that if accepted, you need to list dorm preference.
Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
The security/safety was explained in the tour. BU seems to be set up very well to cover any safety emergencies
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
I am an alumna of the University. Very impressed with how BU has kept up with the times.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
The lay-out BU fits nicely with it's surroundings.
City/Town/Community:
Love Boston!
Campus Visit Notes for Boston University
Visit Description:
I was eager to have my son visit my alma mater as a possible choice for attending college. However, I wanted to get his impression of BU first before we talked about the visit an his wanting to attend the school. My son was very enthusiastic about his visit to BU. He says that the school has everything that he could want in a school both in academics and in extra-curricular interests. He informed me that BU has gone to the top of his list!
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
N/A. We are from the Boston area.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
There are many restaurants close to the school. However, we chose to take the T to Fanueil Hall.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Driving in Boston is difficult-especially when you don't know the area. I would recommend staying in the city and either walking or taking the T to campus.
