Visit Activities:
Campus Tour:
Yes - Great informative guide who clearly loves Cal Poly
Classroom Visit:
Yes - sort of...we wandered by many open doors where classes were in session. They were small and varied from lecture to discussion
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
Everyone was nice and helpful. We apparently looked lost before our tour so people offered help.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
Staffer in bookstore not only showed me where the item I needed was, she reached and got it for me, all with a smile.
Appearance of Campus:
4 - Very Good
It's nice. We have been on beautiful campuses and this isn't one of them but it does have some lovely landscaping and some pretty brick buildings. The Engineering building is awesome!
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
Very Nice, everything worked, no litter etc.
Dormitories:
3 - Good
Didn't see the but they are pretty standard according to the web page. Dbls with a shared hall bath. They're in the process of building a new apts. for sophomores. Due to open fully in 09
Security/Safety:
3 - Good
College Prowler says that it is "sufficient, but not exemplary." Guys felt it was fine, girls were more concerned with their personal safety but you will find that everywhere.
Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
It's a good place where I fell my kids would be challenged, and supported. They would be able to find a niche here and it will help them reach their professional and academic goals.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
Lots of outdoor rec opportunities!
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
SLO is a great little town!
