Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - The information session was good. Boring at first, but got better. Dartmouth has a really special way of scheduling classes that the admissions officer explained well.

Campus Tour: Yes - The campus is small, we basically walked in a big circle. There are little to no hills, so walking in the winter shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
Everyone was nice, and there were even students on campus since Dartmouth runs during the summer. A lot of them are more interesting than you would think.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Everyone was generally good. No complaints. The professors were more of a small liberal arts teaching style than a university which is really nice.

Appearance of Campus:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
Dartmouth is beautiful, as all the ivies are.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good

Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
I didn't get to see a dorm (although the tour guide offered to show some of us her own). Housing is not guaranteed for all four years, but with their unique schedule housing has never been an iss

Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
I felt very safe on campus, especially since it was a small town. Campus security is prevalent and even appears at parties.

Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
Dartmouth is a beautiful place and I would love going there. At first it seemed a little too preppy/upper class, but as the tour went on you got to see the real character of the place.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
3 - Good
There are a couple of shops and stores around, but in the small town down town type of way.

City/Town/Community:
2 - Fair
2 - Fair
Hanover is not a place hopping with excitement, and is as far away as you can get from a city. It seems as though it only encompasses the campus and then 500 feet of shops and ends there.

Campus Visit Notes for Dartmouth College

Visit Description:

I wasn't sold on Dartmouth prior to my visit, but it is definitely near the top of my list now. They really focus on undergraduate education and are more like a small liberal arts college than a university. They have amazing research opportunities and internships. The Greek system is very much a part of Dartmouth, but not in the usual sense. 60% are involved, but freshman are not allowed to rush, which makes it not such a big deal. It's there but it's not the common stereotype of frat boys. Overall Dartmouth is a place where I would like to spend four years.
