Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes
Campus Tour:
Yes
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
The tour guides and whatnot would get a 4, but its kind of their job to be friendly...The regular students got a 3 to a 4, sometimes friendly, sometimes just minding their own business.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
Appearance of Campus:
4 - Very Good
Styled after Italian Renaissance(?) unlike typical Georgian red brick/ivy style (think UGA). Seemed sterile sometimes...but clean.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
They have Emory Police stations here and there throughout campus. Apparently the police can get there from 5-10 seconds.
Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
Not godly, but there was nothing wrong with it, nothing to complain about.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
Stark contrast to the sterile whiteness of the campus. Kind of like an old city, starting to look shabby...but it wasn't shady or anything (left at 6pm, so not dark yet)
Campus Visit Notes for Emory University
Visit Description:
I went through the "Fall for Emory" program. It was well-organized, and my only problem was the generic student/faculty panel that dominated the firt half of the program. The students that were enlisted to eat lunch with us and be tour guides were all smiles. Despite the lack of a football team, they still seem to have fun and have school spirit.
Overall, nothing really swept me off my feet. The campus was pretty, the people were nice, but no "WOW" factor. Maybe I just need to revisit individually?
