Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - The information was great. The programs are good and are getting better. There is tons of school spirit, especially with the new football stadium. The professors are there to help you succeed as well.

Campus Tour: Yes - The campus is smaller than the big name colleges (UF, USF, etc) but it is very nice. The atmosphere is great and the buildings are well kept. The new football field looks amazing as well.

Overnight Visit: Yes - For freshman orientation, it is mandatory to spend the night in the dorm rooms. We stayed in Indian river tower. They were good sized and clean. They ranged from 2-4 bedrooms.

Classroom Visit: Yes - I was able to go into a few classrooms and they were average. The lecture rooms were definitely smaller than other colleges, but that's good when it comes to getting help from the teachers.

The students were very friendly. They noticed that I was visiting and wanted to know if I had any questions or concerns. They gave me some tips on what to expect in general for my first year.

The campus is small, but nice. There was a bit of reconstruction going on which took away from the overall appearance. When that is done, FAU will look great.

The buildings were very clean and well maintained.

Dormitories:

The dorms were nice for dorms, I guess. I'm going to be commuting so I won't be living there. To me, they're just small and crowded.

Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good

The security and safety is great. Instead of having security cops, they have real police officers 24/7. Anytime you need them, you press this blue button and they will come within a minute or less.

Campus Visit Notes for Florida Atlantic University

Visit Description:

I absolutely love FAU. I originally wasn't even planning on going here, but at the last minute I decided to apply. The application was one of the easiest ones I've filled out, and I was accepted within a week or so.

The campus tour was great. They showed me all around the buildings, dorms, rec center, etc. And the new football stadium is beautiful and huge. The atmosphere is great with the students and faculty.

Freshman orientation was a blast! There were some parts that were boring because they kept repeating themselves, but it was fun meeting new people and staff. They had a few skits that were pretty funny and we also split up into small groups to get to know one another. There was a pool party at the rec center that night with free music an food. We had to spend the night in the dorms which was ok. It was 2 days long, but a great experience. The teachers that I met seemed nice and helpful.

I start this fall and I couldn't be happier with my decision. GO OWLS!!!

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

There are many hotels around FAU. It depends on your budget and preference when choosing the one that suits you best.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

There are plenty of restaurants around here. Anywhere from fast food to fancy sit-down restaurants. Some by the beach and some in the city.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

You don't need to have a car. There's a FAU shuttle bus that can take you around or you can also carpool with friends. Parking at FAU gets full quickly, so make sure to get there early for a
