Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - I attended the admissions information session. It was very informative. The admissions officer, an FSU grad, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the school. Definitely a big plus.

Campus Tour: Yes - The tour was conducted by 2 students, who were very proud to be 'Noles. While they were trying to "sell" FSU to the group, they were still honest about facts they didn't know, and

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
The students were very friendly, willing to talk about their experience at the school. Also, when I got lost looking for certain buildings, the students didn't hesitate to show me the way.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
The staff were helpful. One professor noticed me looking around, and even stopped his class to spend a few minutes talking to me. I talked to many faculty members at the school, all of whom were kind.

Appearance of Campus:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
Some buildings seemed to need some TLC, however, I heard that they will likely be renovated. The buildings, which are all brick, have an antique look, without being old.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good

Everywhere seemed to be clean. A very pristine campus.

Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
I saw a suite style dorm, which was very nice. Larger than the suite dorms I'd seen at other schools. I also walked through Landis Hall, and boy, that is a nice, nice dorm.

Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
I felt safe on the campus, even when walking alone. There are also blue-light towers within reach anywhere on campus. Reports from students at the school also show FSU to be a pretty safe place.

Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
I loved this place. I could definitely see myself here, and would recommend this place to others. At the very least, visit it!

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Off on one side of campus is what I'd call "ghettoish", not the nicest looking place. All other sides seem decent enough.

City/Town/Community:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Tallahassee is a small town, however it is charming. Main street is very cool, with all the little shops.

Campus Visit Notes for Florida State University

Visit Description:

I visited in the Spring (April) and boy was it hot outside. Highs near 90 with humidity = lots and lots of sweat. However, there are lots of trees on campus, providing shade from the heat. I saw the football and baseball fields, which was pretty awesome. The students on campus all seemed to be having a good time, interacting with one another.

There seems to be a lot of school pride here. About 40% of the students were wearing some kind of FSU gear. The students were very helpful, and willing to convince me to FSU.

I saw a few professors in my intended major of meteorology. I did get to talk to a few of them for almost 30 minutes, which was pretty amazing considering that they were going home on a Friday. The fact that they stayed a little later to talk to a visitor was really cool.

All in all, I really enjoyed my time there, and can't wait to become a 'Nole.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We stayed in Valdosta,GA because all the hotels in Tallahassee were filled with parents coming for graduation. However, there did seem to be a good number of decent hotels in Tallahassee.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

We ate at the dining hall for lunch. We decided on Pollo Tropical because we've eaten that before. The food was good, as if we'd gone into one of the stand-alone joints. Off-campus, we ate a

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

We didn't do much else in Tallahassee, as I had to return to Atlanta for school. However, from what I heard, there is a decent selection of activities in Tallahassee.
