Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - An admissions officer gave us a presentation with a slide show. It was very informative, about all one could expect from a session. Georgetown isn't on the Common App! :(

Campus Tour: Yes - Very nice campus set in Georgetown, a wonderful offset to Washington D.C. Our two tour guides were very intelligent and informative about campus life, things to do on and off campus, etc.

Our tour guides were obviously informative, but other kids were as well. We ate in the Union club before, and a kid thought I looked lost, and her told me about their food and stuff.

Didn't really talk to them except the admissions officer who did our presentation. He was serious, but informative and quick to answer questions.

The lawns were a little run down since it was cold and late October. The buildings are beautiful however. For a pretty urban campus, Georgetown offers a lot of nice green areas

Nice, well manicured brick buildings. No trash apparent

Dormitories:

What do you expect from a college dorm? Well thats what you get at Georgetown. Notable- they have CHARMS, like an internet dating system that helps match you to a roommate.

Security/Safety:

Georgetown is a nice suburb, so so definitely feel safe. Blue lights are present, as well as an on-campus security department

Overall Campus Impression:

I loved the campus. It felt a little gray, but I think that was because of the sky. I can definietly picture myself at Georgetown.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:

Georgetown is a nice suburb, it is not D.C.! the sidewalks are all brick, as are the shops and eateries. Don't try to get off campus housing though, I hear it costs a fortune!

City/Town/Community:

Great location. You have a nice suburban feel in Georgetown, than walk a couple miles to city of D.C. Its a perfect mix. You get allt he benefits of a big city and a college town.

Campus Visit Notes for Georgetown University

Visit Description:

Georgetown is a nice, intelligent campus. Of the schools I've visited its my favorite. If you want the benefits of a big, international city while still having that classical college feel with green quads, Georgetown is a place to consider. We had some weird Swiss people in our tour guide group who asked some stupid questions, but I suppose this is a testament to Georgetown's diverse and international flavor. One asked "do you have a vet school?" I was like well maybe it would have been a good thing to look up before you flew from Switzerland to the U.S. Then, the Swiss kids started making out towards the end of the tour. Awkward! (The girl was very attractive though.)

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We stayed at a courtyard in downtown D.C. It was about a twenty minute walk to Georgetown.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

We went to Filomena's in central Georgetown after the visit. Great Italian food!

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

There is no metro stop at Georgetown, so the only way to get into the city is a bus or walking, but it is a nice walk, so no real problems there.
