Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Average, provided a little more information - by no means a lot.

Classroom Visit: Yes - Great professors. Classrooms vary in sizes. Great teachers, not just DC hot shots. When you get George Tenet and profs who do a great job of actually teaching you, you know you've got a great mix

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:

A mix of preppy and nerdy. Friendly all around. I don't fit in with the aforementioned groups, but I felt very welcome during the week + I spent there.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:

Very helpful but I can't say they were "excellent" as I've seen better.

Appearance of Campus:

Beautiful campus and surrounding town. People think Georgetown is right in DC, it's not, it's in the town of Georgetown which is a clean (let me emphasize that) and safe with shops lining t

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:

If there's one thing I can say it's that Gtown was well maintained. Nice architecture, and recently renovated dorms. The oldest freshman dorm, New South (which I stayed at) was the best I

Dormitories:

Dorms were incredible. The 'worst' freshman dorm had a brand new elevator, spacious rooms, AC, heat, and everything in between. I would know, I spent a week there and I cannot recommend them

Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good

A pretty open campus. There are numerous security guards, the dorms are protected, and the surrounding town is safe. That said, I felt as secure as I'd care to be.

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent

The campus is perfect for me. It may not be for you. If you go for the city, not here, Gtown is very close and urban by most standards, but not in DC. If you like rural, this is far too urban to fit.

Off-Campus:

Like i've already said.

City/Town/Community:

The town of Georgetown and Washington DC. What more could you ask for? maybe New York city in there as well, but let's be realistic.

Campus Visit Notes for Georgetown University

Visit Description:

After spending more than a week at Georgetown, I have a great feel for the campus and life there. I was impressed with the cleanliness and state of the art (ness) of the university first and foremost. The facilities are great.
I love how the campus is accessible to DC, but not in it. There's a beautiful urbanish area surrounding the campus as well. For me, it's great, for others it may not be.
At the risk of sounding repetitive, I'll cut to an area many people are concerned with: Georgetown's Jesuit status.

1. Religion is anything but overpowering (as I collect from friends who go there). You have to take a few classes, but they're along the same lines as Health class in high school... except morally the opposite.
2. There is a presence, if you look for it: I've read that pro-choice and pro-gay marriage protesters can only protest in certain areas. A little harsh, but that's what I'd expect from a Catholic university. Another thing, they don't sell condoms at the convenience stores on campus. There's a CVS around the corner, so don't worry.
3. Being a Catholic school is very beneficial as well. Where else would you see the maintained architectural features and scenic areas? There's a breathtaking garden near where the jesuit priests live. Hey, it's not all bad for you non-catholics (i'm one of them)

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Wisey's (Wisemiller's) is a great deli. Great restaurants in the area, just browse around.
