Campus Visit Notes for Hartwick College

Visit Description:

We visited during an open house this Sunday. Unfortunately, there was a charity race going on with many streets blocked off. (We had been warned to give ourselves extra time but not given advice on how to circumvent the road blocks.) We finally managed to get to the back of the campus, but there were no signs posted there so we were at a loss to find admissions. Thankfully, a roving student driving a college van picked us up and another family and took us to admissions. The campus is on a very steep hill and thus divided into terraced sections connected by steep wooden stairs. Not appealing to me and probably hazardous in the ice and snow. D found the campus too quiet and small. Not too many students around. So we learned we'd probably be looking towards bigger schools. The tour guide was nice, not too knowledgeable, but obviously very enthusiastic about the school.
