Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - There is a lot of interesting history to the school, considering it was the 1st university. The person giving the session was very enthusiastic and you could tell he really loved the school.
Campus Tour:
Yes - The campus is beautiful and architecture of each building is amazing. The Widener Library is world renowned and if you get a chance to peak inside Annenberg (the dining hall) looks like hogwarts.
Classroom Visit:
Yes - I took classes for 8 weeks. My professor was amazing and the facilities are phenomenal.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
My teacher and TA were really there to help us. My teacher got to know each one of us and our TA baked cookies for us.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
Now, I had to stay in a Freshman dorm. But for a freshman dorm, it was incredible. The dorms consisted of suites where 4 people would sleep. It was really big and each suite had its own bathroom.
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
Each time you walk around campus you are bound to see countless campus security personnel and I think that is something to be said. The main part of Harvard is gated but only has a couple of openings.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
Harvard has its reputation for a reason.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
Harvard has an amazing location. Everything you could possibly need is right around Harvard. Harvard square has a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, a T stop, etc. Lots of beggers though near the T
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
HARVARD IS IN BOSTON... need I say more? There is so much to do in the city. Pop over to Newbury street if you like to shop (you will not be disappointed).
Campus Visit Notes for Harvard University
Visit Description:
I did a pre-college program at Harvard for 8 weeks so I feel like I got a really good idea of what life at Harvard would be like. My professor was incredible, the campus is absolutely amazing and well, we are indeed talking about Harvard.
I cannot stress how amazing the surrounding area of the university is. I have done my fair share of college visits and some colleges have absolutely nothing right around the college. Harvard is the complete opposite.
Greek life- Well there really is not much of a Greek life at Harvard but there are Final Clubs (although a little debated about.... go to this website if you want to know what a final club is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_club)
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
Not only does Newbury have great shopping, but also GREAT DINING!
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
The T (the subway) anywhere you need to go! Taxi cabs are also in abundant.
