Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - It was quite helpful. I was expecting mostly information about admissions, which I didn't need. Rather, I learned a lot about the academic and extracurricular life here.
Campus Tour:
Yes - My tour guide was really bubbly and enthusiastic. After the tour, I found I gained realistic picture not only of the campus, but also of undergraduate life at Harvard.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
They all seemed very happy and carried a lot of school spirit. The students were very willing to answer questions and seemed eager to help us in any way possible.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
The admissions officer in my information session was very friendly. I did not have the opportunity to meet professors, however.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
Wow...I loved the campus so much! The older buildings are stunning--especially Memorial Hall. The surrounding area of Cambridge is charming, yet large enough to satisfy any craving for city life.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
Everything seemed very clean and well-kept to me. The only thing was that there was heavy rain here last weekend and the yard area was a little messy.
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
It seems like a really safe place to me. Like many colleges, Harvard has the blue light system.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
Students were eating lunch outside, walking with professors--it was very picturesque!
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
Cambridge has a wide array of shops and restaurants. While it feels like a small city, it has a delightful New England twist. And of course, Boston is but a bridge away! In short, I was a big fan.
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
There is so much Harvard spirit! The Coop sells a large selection of Harvard apparal. Cambridge and Boston life is so geared towards college students. I think any undergraduate would feel at home.
