Visit Activities:
Admissions Interview:
No - didn't have one.
Information Session:
No - My trip was very rushed, and I couldn't get there in time to see one.
Campus Tour:
Yes - It was nice, albeit not very interactive and pretty mundane. Just like any other campus tour, but very informative about Harvard's heritage.
Classroom Visit:
Yes - My friend took me to see a classroom, or actually just to stand by the door cause the teacher was talking then, and the lady kicked us out! It was very rude. My Harvard friend was very embarassed.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
Whenever I go on campus visits I stop random students and ask questions. One band guy was really helpful, but everyone else brushed us off. My Harvard friend was amazingly nice, though. Mixed bag.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
My mom started asking this Harvard administration lady how she liked the college, and she was really nice about it. She said undergrad at Harvard isn't so good. She went to Dartmouth.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
It was beautiful. A TON bigger than Columbia.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
I got to go into the big library since my friend goes to Harvard, and she even snuck me into the study rooms. It is the most scholarly and beautiful studying environment I have ever seen in my life.
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
Didn't get to see the dorms, but I bet they're amazing.
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
I saw a few security guards patrolling, but there didn't seem to be a need for them. It seemed safe to me.
Overall Campus Impression:
3 - Good
I didn't like most of the students there. I think the majority are stuck up and pompous. They certainly seemed that way, and most were 'too busy' to answer any of my questions.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
BEAUTIFUL. Cambridge is the best college environment (next to NYC) out of the Ivies!!
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
beautiful. very bustling but still an intimate vibe.
Campus Visit Notes for Harvard University
Visit Description:
I visited the east coast late September - early October 2006. I come from California, so weather is a HUGE deal for me. It was kind of rainy when I visited Harvard. Kind of drab.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
didn't stay near Harvard.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
I went to Au Bon Pain. Pretty cheap and good.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Parking was a huge fiasco. It was so hard to find, and was the reason I couldn't see the info session. It's expensive too - $20 for FOUR hours!
