Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - The information session began with a brief video and was followed by an admissions officer who discussed classes, opportunities, life, etc. at Hopkins and explained the admissions process.

Campus Tour: Yes - Done by current Hopkins students. All of the tour guides had a really good sense of humor and were approachable/friendly. My tour guide articulated himself really well.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:

It's summer so whether or not you see my rate as accurate. I did see some students (most graduate) and the tour guides were awesome (but I mean they're tour guides for a reason).

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
Helpful and welcoming.

Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
It's gorgeous. The buildings aren't that tall because they go underground. The history/myths of some of the buildings are really interesting/amusing. The architecture was well designed.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
It's clean. This is coming from a person who's overly cautious about germs. Everything is well maintained. Inside the buildings is beautiful just like the outside. The libraries are cool.

Dormitories:
Didn't see

Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
The campus is open to the public but there's blue lights and the dormitories are extremely secured.

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent

It's gorgeous

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Sketchy but not more so than any other city. It's boring and seems easily exhausted. My tour guide tried to convey otherwise but it's an opinion thing.

City/Town/Community:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Like I said, it's a city. But it's boring, at least to me. The people I came with all disagreed if that adds any perspective on my opinion.

Campus Visit Notes for Johns Hopkins University

Visit Description:

The tour was really entertaining, not only because of the guide's charisma, but Hopkins is just a really interesting place. The tour guide covered everything from engineering to humanities. Both the admissions officer and the tour guide emphasized undergraduate research. My tour guide's friend is about to start work with Adam Riess. As an undergraduate. That's amazing.
