Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: Yes - admissions officer was a recent kenyon grad. he was head of his fraternity while he was there but didnt at all seem the type.good example about the unconventional-ness of Kenyon/ lack of stereotypes

Campus Tour: Yes - campus is quite pretty. the town of gambier is pretty much inside the campus. lots of trees and all the architecture is gothic

seemed pretty standard (only saw first year housing)

Security/Safety:

the biggest threat to the safety of kenyon appears to be the nearby Amish community. that's how rural it is.

everything was perfect. except i got this horrible vibe there. that was just a personal thing for me. i know kenyon wasnt for me. but i would HIGHLY recoomend it to certain people.

pretty area of ohio. however, be aware that kenyon is very rural and isolated. this rating really depends on what type of person you are

tiny tiny town. the town is IN the campus and consists of bookstore, deli, pub, restaurant and inn. i come form an island in hawaii (not exactly urban) and i thought it was tiny

Campus Visit Notes for Kenyon College

Visit Description:

kenyon was not for me but i think it can be a great place for some people
i found it to be a cross between carleton and bates
very strong community ( bates) with some quirk (carleton)

people seemed smart but not academic beasts and you could tell school was not there entire lives. it seemed like people mainly stayed on campus and that there was a fair amount to do.

be warned if you smoke (or perhaps have an obsession with candles or are in general, a pyro) kenyon has a really strict fire policy. there was a fire a while ago that killed a few students so there super strict about it now.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

if you can get a reservation, the kenyon inn is right on campus. if not the mt vernon inn is cheap very nice and only 5 min drive away.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

ummmm. if your not used to midwest food or into eating healthy, finding places to eat can be rather difficult. eat at the school dingin hall as much as possible
