This is a very safe campus. The guide talked about how they have these buttons on the lamp posts and if you press them a cop will be there within a minute and a half. [View Full Report] |

Our tour guide informed us of the RUPD and their friendliness and accommodation, as well as the EMS, and the myriad blue light phones on campus assured me of the security and safety of the university. [View Full Report] |

Rice is surrounded by very nice homes, and I couldn't imagine that this would draw much criminal activity. I wouldn't be too worried about safety. [View Full Report] |

I felt extremely safe around campus, even when I was walking around at 2:00 am. There are plenty of people walking about even at that time (at least on the weekend), and it feels very friendly/safe. [View Full Report] |

Rice University Police are very nice. They not only help keep people safe, they help out people who need help (they helped a kid whose car had issues). Campus & surrounding areas felt very safe. [View Full Report] |

Even though this campus was in the middle of Houston, I felt very safe. It is an isolated oasis in the middle of one of the nation's largest cities. [View Full Report] |

I felt very safe there. From what I could see, the students were not too worried about someone stealing their things. Rice has there own police and EMS system. [View Full Report] |

Gosh, every few minutes it seemed a Rice Police or campus security vehicle pulled around the corner. Plus, they have poles with blue lights all over campus which you can go to and contact police. [View Full Report] |

The campus "security" force is a police department that can arrive on site in 90 seconds. There is a very low crime rate, one of the lowest in private schools in Texas, or the nation. [View Full Report] |

It's pretty much isolated from the city. I felt safe the entire time. Also, the surrounding area looked relatively well-off. [View Full Report] |

Rice is in a great part of Houston and campus security appears to be tight. There are security posts all over the campus for emergencies. The surrounding neighborhoods seemed to be very safe. [View Full Report] |
