Campus Visit Notes for The College of New Jersey

Visit Description:

I first visited the college on a school trip. I insisted to my mother that we go back and visit the school on a real tour. I thought the campus was gorgeous with it's neoclassical Georgian brick buildings and white trim. there's lots of green grass and trees. For me, it's the perfect campus setting. It's the kind of place where people lounge under trees to study after a game of ultimate frisbee. My tour guides were awesome and gave a thorough description of their lives at TCNJ. After that tour, TCNJ was the high standard by which I judged the 20 other schools. Throughout all my other tours, TCNJ has constantly remained at the top.

The library is amazing. It's virtually brand new and is even ranked above some ivy libraries. I would imagine myself spending a lot of time there. They have recently renovated Eickhoff Hall, the food court, to follow a more modern style. The campus is constantly under construction. In fact, they just constructed a new Interactive Media and Art Building.

The highlight of campus for me is the Science complex. The buildings wrap around a courtyard, and there's a beautiful fountain in the middle, where supposedly every student swims at one point in their 4 years at TCNJ. The science buildings are stocked with the latest equipment, and their staff is awesome. I want to point out that the Biology Major is the most competitive in the application pool, as it has an earlier application due date and more selective criteria than other majors. TCNJ also has a distinguished Pre-Med program that has placed many students into the best med schools.

During the summer, I attended the NJASC Leadership Training Conference, which happened to be hosted on TCNJ's campus. I loved living here for 4 days. I got to stay in the senior apartments, which have nice single rooms. I really felt at home at TCNJ, and I love the atmosphere of the campus.

I went to the Scholar Reception, and even if I didn't have prior knowledge of the school, I would still have a good impression of it. I got a free t-shirt, and they served a nice lunch. It was a good chance to see the school one last time before I applied.

The people at TCNJ are very down-to-earth. It's refreshing to have a conversation with someone who doesn't think they're any better than you. The ambassadors are helpful, and the quality of professors is impressive too.

Now looking at the facts, TCNJ is rated as one of the top ten best value public schools in the northeast. It has a fantastic undergraduate education for an amazing price.

My cousin recently graduated from TCNJ, where he met his wife. The two of them couldn't be happier with their experience, and only speak words of praise about the school. They encourage me to attend TCNJ too. I know I would be very happy at this school.
