Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Information session was rather helpful and easy-going. There is a student panel questioning session after the tours, so that was a big help.

Campus Tour: Yes - Great! The students are very friendly, and implement a lot of their own personal stories into the tour.

Very friendly and helpful. UChicago is known for having very intellectually serious students. I was expecting solemn and expressionless faces, but in reality, the students had so much PERSONALITY.

Beautiful campus, great access to the city. What I really like was the way the desks were positioned in most rooms: in a rectangular alignment with empty space in the center. Perfect for discussions.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:

Some of the bathrooms aren't that great, but it's not a big deal. They were very good, and campus is so beautiful. Everything is kept in great condition.

Security/Safety:
From what the student panel told us, there are police officers on campus during the night to help escort students to their dorms, rehearsals, etc.

Overall Campus Impression:

Chicago is great! I didn't get to visit much of Hyde Park, though.

Campus Visit Notes for The University of Chicago

Visit Description:

I was very impressed with this school. The students and staff were so friendly - there was not a hint of pretension or anything like that. Yet you could tell that the students were very intellectual and serious about their schoolwork and activities.

What surprised me was the amount of extracurricular activities some of the students could do. UChicago is known for its rigorous curriculum, after all. But every single one of the students participated in more than five extracurricular activities, and excelled in all of them. That was quite impressive.
