Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - I felt it was pretty standard. I don't remember learning anything particularly useful. They had free hot chocolate though.
Campus Tour:
Yes - Despite the freezing weather, I loved the tour! The campus was beautiful and I learned a lot about the special achievements of the college. I got to see the location of many historical events.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
It was winter break, so no one was really around besides the international students, who were the tour guides. I really liked them though.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
I love the gothic architecture. It reminds me a lot of Hogwarts.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
They were very well-maintained and in tip-top shape as expected of any top college.
Security/Safety:
3 - Good
I was in a rough area, but they have police. I didn't feel in danger on campus.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
I love it! It is definitely an enviroment I would be excited to be in.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
As everyone know, Hyde Park is rough. I heard it can be interesting though.
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
Chicago is great, but UChicago is kinda far away from the main side of the city, unless you want to trek around the South Side for some reason.
Campus Visit Notes for The University of Chicago
Visit Description:
I visited in the winter, so it was incredibly cold, especially for someone from the south like me. However, the snow made the campus look especially gorgeous. I really liked the tour, where I learned a lot about the academic aspects of the school and I saw the places where lots of scientific achievements had happened. The tour guides were all foreign students, but they were all very great and friendly. One of them even knew someone else from my town.
