Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - I went to Destination Tulane, which is for admitted students. They had a question-and-answer panel with students that was really informative and a great talk from the University president.

Campus Tour: Yes - I loved it...the tour guide was really sweet and funny. She knew little anecdotes about every building on the campus and shared all of them. It really gave me a good feel for the campus and the layout

Campus Visit Notes for Tulane University

Visit Description:

I loved my visit. I did Destination Tulane today (Monday) but actually arrived Friday afternoon and spent the weekend looking over New Orleans. We went to the French Quarter, Market Street, Uptown, and we're staying in the Garden District. Through a distant connection, we also were given a tour of town by a Tulane student. He took us to the Lower Ninth Ward and around City Park. New Orleans is an incredible city, and Tulane's requirement for all students to complete service is very beneficial for the city.

Destination Tulane was a good introduction to the school and really allowed me to get to know the school in a few hours. I thought the best part of the day was the ability to meet with an academic advisor to see what I could do at the school.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

Absolutely try to stay at the Avenues Inn Bed and Breakfast. Joe and Bebe know New Orleans well and are wonderful hosts.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Ignatius is a restaraunt on the corner of Magazine Street and Milan-- great food from a place named after the character in Confederacy of Dunces.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

The streetcar is slow and unreliable, but fun to ride around town.
