Visit Activities:

Campus Tour: Yes - Our tour guide was a very charismatic Chemistry Major. He was very enthusiastic about Cal.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
Well, none of the students were kind enough to go up to us and greet us like I've read in some reports, but, for the most part, if you asked any student a question, he or she would answer nicely.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:

Our Tour Guide was very friendly. We didn't have a chance to meet anyone else.

Appearance of Campus:

I wish there were more archaic Harry Potteresque structures, but the wide, expansive green grass everywhere was nice. Some of the buildings really just felt plain.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
3 - Good
3 - Good
We went into two bathrooms: one was the foreign language one and another was the chemistry one. Neither made a great impression.

Dormitories:
No idea.

Security/Safety:

Outside their were some shady people, but on campus I felt very comfortable.

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent

It's lacking in a few aspects, but the green grass had a nice soothing effect and I love some of the liberal history at UC Berkeley. Overall, great, the reason I would be here is the academics.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
3 - Good
We had difficulty parking and their were some strange, strange people walking around.

City/Town/Community:
2 - Fair
2 - Fair
Not particularly appealing. There seemed to be lots of resteraunts, which I thought was a plus, but alot of the buildings around UC Berkeley needed rennovations.

Campus Visit Notes for University of California-Berkeley

Visit Description:

UC Berkeley is a great school with amazing academics, but it suffers from a bad faculty to student ratio. Overall I had a good impression on-campus, and a not-so-good impression off campus. I could see myself under the alabaster columns of the University Library in a couple years.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

There was a Chipotle nearby and many, many places to eat around the city. Another place I've been told was good was the Taiwanese Resteraunt. You won't miss it with its purple walls and flat

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

The BART station is really close to the school. Parking sucks.
