I got a chance to eat at the faculty center (only professors and top administration can buy food here) and chat with a professor emeritus. He was very friendly and passionate about his job.

UCLA Campus is absolutely beautiful. Admittedly, there are a few spots that look a little dreary, but most buildings are very attractively designed. Ackerman Union's interior is just incredible.

Dormitories:
Haven't been in one

Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent

As far as I know, there are no security problems whatsoever. Like I said, the surrounding area is upper-class so not much crime going on.

If I would judge UCLA

Off-Campus:

UCLA is not, as one would likely think, in Los Angeles Proper. It is actually situated in a very nice area called Westwood and it is extremely beautiful and upper-class (and expensive).

City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent

There's plenty of resources with Los Angeles being a drive away.

Campus Visit Notes for University of California-Los Angeles

Visit Description:

I've been here a couple of times but I mostly hung out at Ackerman, which has all sorts of fast food joints, such as Taco Bell, Carls Jr., Jamba Juice, Panda Express, etc. and a salon (where I got my haircut for the relatively low price of $15), and even an arcade and a PC gaming room.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Try to visit UCLA during non-peak hours unless you want to run into some infamous LA traffic.
