Visit Activities:
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
Everyone was very nice and I was able to ask questions to various students (even ones not part of the Spring Insight volunteers) and they were very helpful, not to mention very good looking.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
I was not able to talk to much of the staff other than from the tables giving information about different programs. It seems as though they tried to let the students be more involved, which is good.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
It's a very peaceful campus with lots of trees and greenery. There is nothing like being able to take a long walk on the beach after a stressful day at school. The location is unbeatable.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
The school continues to expand and renovate. The newer buildings (like Campbell Hall) are top notch, very clean and modern. Most of the buildings look great and it seems like no expense was wasted.
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
The dorms range in when they were built, so some are cleaner and more modern looking on the outside, but they all had decent interiors. Some had ocean views, very nice.
Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
The school is very centralized so most students are not far from the rest. The adjacent college town of Isla Vista is all students, so no big city worries. Feels very safe.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
This place felt like home. The people, location, and overall feel of the campus was very inviting; a place where you would like to live and enjoy your time while still getting a great education.

Visit Description:
For those living south of UCSB, the drive to and from there is very beautiful and scenic. Once arriving, parking was ample and I was greeted by UCSB students volunteering for the day immediately after walking down the stairs. I had a few questions and they were able to point me in the right direction. They all seemed very happy to help and not high-nosed in any way.
Back in Los Angeles it was 97 degrees, but in sb it was more around 85. It was still kind of hot, but I just wanted to say this to point out one of my favorite aspects of the school. A few minutes walk from anywhere on campus is the beach. The temperature on the coast was more around 72 and the breeze and view were beautiful. It's a very relaxing environment, something that could be important during some very stressful times in college.
I can't imagine a more balanced or more enjoyable college experience. It's a top-50 school that is known for parties. It just goes to show that people there really do work hard, and the students I met there were very smart. I didn't meet any valley-girl type people and I actually saw a pretty diverse number of students. I really enjoyed my visit to UCSB and hope everyone can experience it.
