Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Very common - sat in a large room, watched a video, introduced ourselves and where we're from.

Campus Tour: Yes - There were two guides. We rode on a bus for half of the tour, and the PA system hardly worked, so hearing the guides was very difficult. Then we got off and walked, and that was much more enjoyable.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
None of the students really talked to our group, but the day was also rainy and after classes had let out for the summer recess. Everyone seemed friendly enough though, and seemed to have a good time.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
The guides and university admissions staff were very peppy and helpful. Very upbeat.

Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
The campus is really pretty. Lots of green space and wide open areas, and old buildings. Lots of room as well.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
From what I could tell, all of the buildings seemed clean and in working order, but I didn't get to go inside of many.

Dormitories:
3 - Good
3 - Good
I did not get to see a dorm.

Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
From what I could tell, the campus is very wide, with lots of shady areas. There didn't appear to be much security all over the large campus, but it still seems very safe.

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
Overall, if you're looking for a large, green campus, this is the place for you. Lots of new and old buildings and lots to do!

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
3 - Good
I, personally, am not a huge fan of Athens - it is very much a "college town." Outside of Athens, it is all farmland.

City/Town/Community:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
See above - I am not, personally, a huge fan of Athens, but I know many who are. There seems to be a fair amount that goes on in the city.

Campus Visit Notes for University of Georgia

Visit Description:

I liked the campus, as it was much more beautiful than I had thought it would be, and much larger. However, I did not like how the tour was handled. I would have rather walked around the campus than only through one section - seeing the rest on a bus, while expedient, doesn't let you get a "feel" for it. Also, seeing a dorm would have been nice. The guides, while nice and peppy, were hard to hear on the bus (which comprised half of the tour!) and also were very biased towards certain parts of the tours.
