Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: No - No Interview

Information Session: Yes - Very informative. Explained courses, workload, costs. Also explained post graduate schooling. The speakers did not bring up much about student life, though.

Campus Tour: Yes - The campus is AMAZING. I love the trees, the fall foliage, the greek archetecture. It was very beautiful and well kept. I could see myself living here easily.

Classroom Visit: Yes - Class was very interesting. I sat in a freshman psychology class with about 200 others and it was suprisingly easy to follow and understand. The prof. was enthusiastic but left right after lecture.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:

There are some rude people here, but overall the people are very friendly. Even as a HS senior from the farthest reaches of southern GA, I easily fit in and was even mistaken for an actual student.

Same as the students pretty much. Some of the people that work in the food court can be rude, but I was helped a lot by the staff and the speakers were very intersting.

Appearance of Campus:

I thought the campus looked amazing and was very well kept and nice. The Greek houses are particularly nice, and the neighborhoods around the campus are your average, middle to high class homes.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good

The showers and bathrooms in the dorms could use some work but just about everything else around the campus was very clean. The Ramsey center was particularly nice. You'd think it was for D1 athl

Dormitories:

The dorms themselves are not very nice but they do suffice. The people in the halls are overall fun and there's a strong sense of community amongst the residences that just isn't in high sch

Security/Safety:

There were many call boxes around and most parts of the campus are very well lit. I would not advise wondering around downtown past midnight on the weekends or past 10 on the weekdays alone.

Overall Campus Impression:

I loved it. The campus is full of trees, beautiful buildings, and great people. The North campus is along the lines of Colgate and other beautiful campuses. The surrounding area is great also.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:

Downtown Athens is very nice. There are many stores to visit, including Starbucks and multiple music stores. Nearby neighborhoods are particularly nice and would be nice to live in after graduation.

City/Town/Community:

Athens is a very "college" town. Everything revolves around UGA. There are very nice hotels around, great Thai restaurant, and Atlanta is nearby. There's no Abercrombie or Hollister, st

Campus Visit Notes for University of Georgia

Visit Description:

Basically, I stayed with my friends in Russell the night before the tour. They're all in the same fraternity, and after spending the day at the Ramsey center, we went to a frat 'event' and I had a lot of fun. The next day, the tour and information sessions started and it was very intersting. I learned a lot. We rode the bus system, went out to the middle of Sanford stadium (an experience all in itself, at least for Dawgs like myself), and ate lunch. I would like to point out that North Campus is EXTREMELY beautiful. I loved being on campus, as all the facilities and buildings were well kept and clean. The showers in the dorms are OK, but not much privacy exists (trust me, you'll get close enough to these people so it won't matter). Greek life seems like a lot of fun, and most of the faculty knew a lot. (I had a whole narrative typed, but my browser did something, and it erased just this section for some reason and I didn't feel like re-typing the whole thing. So alas, this was abridged).

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

I didn't stay overnight at the hotel, but my parents did and said it was very nice. They said the pool closed at 8 though. Was weird. Forgot name of the hotel.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

There's a breathtaking Thai restaurant near campus that I'd advise anyone to take a look at. The usual fastfood places are particularly nice.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

The parking garage was nice though the fees can be outrageous if you're not a student. I think we parked in the North campus building. The bus system is very nice and the buses are clean.
