Campus Visit Notes for University of Kansas
Visit Description:
Things went well. We arrived early in the day and waited around for the presentation to start. In the admissions office, there were plenty of things to read about KU.
When the presentation started, the presentor went over KU traditions, facts, statistics, and other tidbits of information they thought we might find interesting. I was very impressed by the traditions the university has, and when I heard the "Rock Chalk" chant, it sent shivers down my spine.
When the presentation was over, we were greeted by students who would show us around campus. It was rainy, so we weren't allowed to walk, so they put us on buses. We got to see more of the campus than we would have if we had walked, because the bus let us go more places. The students did a good job of describing what we passed, and were very helpful if we had questions.
Next we were shown to dorms, McCullum and Hashinger. Hashinger was by far my favorite, because it was more up-to-date and modern. McCullum wasn't bad, it was the kind of dorm you'd expect to find. The students who showed us the dorms were helpful.
As we entered McCullum, a student yelled out at one of our guides and said "TELL THEM ABOUT GETTING WASTED."
I thought that was pretty entertaining.
After that, we were set free. My father and I went into Lawrence for lunch and some shopping. It wasn't my first time there, so I knew where to go, but it was still a lot of fun.
