University of Missouri-Columbia Visit Report by dk2662

Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Well presented and informative. Kids and parents were from all over the country and we had international students as well. We came back to ask a late question and everyone was helpful/very nice.

Campus Tour: Yes - We toured almost every building and got a lot of history of the campus. New Student Union and Rec Center are the highlights.

Overnight Visit: Yes - Daughter stayed in Johnston Hall during Summer Media Workshop offered through extension. Dorm is older but has new upgrades so very acceptable.

Campus Visit Notes for University of Missouri-Columbia

Visit Description:

I took a tour of the campus and the Journalism school while my daughter was attending the Summer Media Workshop offered thru Mizzou Extension (good summer program). Tour guide was great, very friendly. We saw dorms, library, rec center, brand new student center. It's a very spread out campus but I loved the mix of old and new buildings. The adjacent town was great - -nice shopping and restaurants, not too big and not too small. We're from California and I loved just the mid-Western "down to earth" feel of campus and everyone I met.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

Would highly recommend Hampton Inn (at Missouri Campus)

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Flat Branch Brewery -- ate there twice. Excellent food and great beer.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

I'm a movie buff and I did enjoy the quirkiness of Ragtag Cinema in Columbia.
