Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Quite helpful, but of course, a little run-of-the-mill which may be unavoidable. Very informational (they even had panels of students/teachers/parents)

Campus Tour: Yes - Lovely campus!! So many huge, beautiful buildings of every architectual style.

Overnight Visit: Yes - You have to sign up on your own, but they're SO worth it. This is what convinced me that Penn's my school.

Classroom Visit: Yes - Even in the freshman intro to language course I visited, there was only a dozen students or less, and the teacher was SO helpful.

Campus Visit Notes for University of Pennsylvania

Visit Description:

My host student on my overnight visit brought me along to her Farsi/Persian class. I didn't even know they had their own language. But after the adorable little teacher had reviewed pronunciations of numbers 1-10, she smilingly demanded I stand up and recite them! I, of course, had literally not the faintest idea what was going on, which my faux-classmates got a kick out of.
She led me, stumbling, through 1-3 (I'm sure I murdered the pronunciations). I thought I was done being drilled on my sit-in! But sure enough, not long later, she asked for 1-6! This process continued, and by the end of that one hour-long class, I could say AND write numbers 1-10.
If I learned that much in one sitting, I can't imagine how much I'll learn in four years. There was more to it than that, though. The other students were a jovial, friendly bunch who welcomed me in and helped me, albeit laughing. :)
