The immediate area around campus is very busy, but that's common with schools in the city. It was still a nice surrounding area though. There were hospitals and no tall buildings. [View Full Report] |

Energetic community with both trendy and cheap ethnic restaruants, music venues, theater, coffee shops etc. A short walk toward City Center takes you into upscale Rittenhouse Square. [View Full Report] |

Restaurants, stores, hotels, yummy food carts, easy bus service. I really liked the area a lot; you are definitely in the city, but it was a pretty laid-back vibe for a city. [View Full Report] |

So many convenience stores/restaurants/shops are literally less than two minutes away from wherever you are. You hardly even have to go out of your way to go get anything you need. [View Full Report] |

Philadelphia is an art mecca and come on... two words: benjamin franklin. Lots of hospitals everywhere, tons of students because of the 100 universities per square inch thing... [View Full Report] |

Mostly hospitals, museums, and university "bubble" shops. Nice, well maintained, did not appear ghetto in any way. [View Full Report] |

Alright. There were shops and such that seemed nice. It was fine in the daytime, but at night, it would seem kinda sketchy. [View Full Report] |

Two to four blocks off campus seems OK, though not a particularly lively college-oriented restaurant/retail scene. Beyond that, neighborhoods get very rough. [View Full Report] |

Best of both worlds: urban enough to have plenty to do, but not in the middle of a smog-filled downtown. [View Full Report] |

The area immediately around campus and all areas East of the campus remind you of how wonderful a city Philadelphia is! There are sketchy parts in West Philadelphia, but University City is amazing! [View Full Report] |

The area around Penn is sort of run down, but the area to the West is really run down. It's not East Cleveland, but it looks like it could be bad. However, the area is very vibrant. [View Full Report] |

There was a lot of selection of food and shopping around the campus. It was not the West Philly I was expecting, however I am sure the further west you go, the more sketch it is. [View Full Report] |

The area immediately around Penn is gorgeous. I didn't see any traces of stereotypical West Philly. There are places to eat, great shopping, basically anything a college student could want. [View Full Report] |

University city surrounds Penn and has undergone major gentrification, making it trendy, expensive, and highly developed. West Philly, about seven blocks from campus, is obviously less developed, but it also has its own charm and learning opportunities. [View Full Report] |
