Honestly, I didn't feel that uncomfortable off campus. Coming from Aurora, IL outside Chicago, I'm used to "rough" or "ghetto" areas. Just be smart and aware of your surr [View Full Report] |

It isn't like a third world country...it's not luxurious or high end, but certainly undeserving of its bad reputation. 2 homeless people spotted. [View Full Report] |

It wasn't a bad environment outside the campus, but the constant roaring of cars flying by the campus get annoying after a while, the traffic is insane! [View Full Report] |

I was at USC for a high school summer program. The area around campus is not as bad as people say. USC has built up the area with two nice food/shops areas and they are constructing another. I mean, o [View Full Report] |

The part we drove through was not bad, but another parent in our tour group had arrived a different way and asked about the neighborhood going from bad, to worse, to really, really bad. [View Full Report] |

There is really nothing to do immediately off campus and it's not the safest area to explore but downtown LA and beaches are easily within driving distance. [View Full Report] |

The area within two blocks of campus, which we explored, was filled with student housing, restaurants and stores. We saw no evidence of the "criminal element" everyone talks about. [View Full Report] |

USC is kind of an oasis in the bad part of LA. I just drove to the campus from Beverly Hills, so I didn't get the full experience of the area around it but I've heard it's pretty bad. [View Full Report] |

Definitely not as skeevy as I've heard before. There are rougher areas of Phoenix than the area of LA that USC is in. [View Full Report] |

It's not as bad as people say it is. I feel safe walking to the University Village at night and even walked home from the row one week night by my self late. Be cautious and you will be fine. [View Full Report] |

USC is in an urban neighborhood. However, I think it gets unnecessary flack for it. Use your common sense and stay to yourself, & the chances of something happening to you are slim to none. I walk [View Full Report] |

It's not the best place for a university. I don't want to mislead anybody, so let me just say that when you walk off campus, you have to worry about getting shot or getting mugged. [View Full Report] |

A bit seedy outside campus. We stopped at a McDonalds for lunch just across from campus and a homeless man pilfered a used soda cup from the trash and came inside for a drink. [View Full Report] |

South and east are nice areas. The area surrounding USC is a low-income community, and it was a bit offsetting for myself, not really being a big city person. But again, I felt safe; no worries. [View Full Report] |

Not bad! There are shopping areas immediately north and west of the campus. The Radisson Hotel and the brand new Galen (basketball) Center are just east of the campus. [View Full Report] |
