Campus Visit Notes for University of Wisconsin-Madison
The semester was over, so we didn't get a feel for the campus when it's filled with 28,000 undergrads, but I'm sure it bustles. We were pleased that the journalism department sets up meetings with interested juniors. This doesn't happen everywhere. It's nice to have your basic questions answered in person. The admissions officer who ran the info session, Carlos Reyes, was practical, down to earth, and frank ("don't send me a personal statement about how you saved your dog's life"). Our tour guide (Kimberly from a small town in Wisconsin) did a good job.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
Best Western on University Ave. was fine for a night
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
Had lunch in the student union, and it was pretty good
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Lots of construction on streets near campus, so it can be confusing. Definitely park in one of the city garages on or near campus.
