Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - Seemed really... meh. That's how I would describe it. They didn't really set Vandy apart from every other college out there. It was average.
Campus Tour:
Yes - Pretty campus. Large sprawling lawns, big buildings, stepped in history, etc. But too big (physically) for me.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
3 - Good
The student tour guides seemed a little off. Nice people, who knew a lot about the school-- but not the kind I want to be around for four years.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
During our campus tour my mom got tired, so they sent a lady to come pick us up, which was nice.
Appearance of Campus:
4 - Very Good
Really pretty. But don't attend if you have allergies to pine trees.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
Really cool buildings. Very modern, very clean, very high tech.
Dormitories:
5 - Excellent
They're all brand new. We saw a dorm room and it was HUGE. I'd like to live in that dorm room...
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
Seemed alright.
Overall Campus Impression:
3 - Good
Great campus, but it was too big for me. Too many people, too many buildings, etc. Plus I just didn't really connect with the people overall.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
It seemed pretty affluent, but we drove around it for a while the night before and the street configuration confused me a lot.
City/Town/Community:
1 - Poor
Nashville was GROSS. And all the people we met who were unaffiliated with the University seemed very rude. Definitely not the Southern Hospitality which I've been taught.
Campus Visit Notes for Vanderbilt University
Visit Description:
I attended for one of the bigger campus visit days. It's one of those things where they have all the clubs/organizations set up in the building and then have you split up into the college you're interested in (A&S, engineering, education, etc). Overall, I was just unimpressed with the school. Nothing really stood out for me. The campus, as I've said, was also reallyyyy big. It was a pretty campus, but not for me. As well, I just HATED Nashville.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
I think we stayed in a Drury Suites adjacent to campus. One of the staffers was quite rude to us (which resulted in us getting our room comp'd :D). The room was nice, and so was the breakfast.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
The "Parthenon" is a waste of time. I was unimpressed.
