Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - Informative, concise, and to the point.
Campus Tour:
No - I loved it! It was the perfect weather for a tour, and leaves were everywhere. I deftinately got a rustic, quaint vibe from the campus. There's lots of pretty and historic buildings
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
Good. I listened to a student panel that was very energetic, funny, and informative. Also, several students smiled as our tour group walked past. Everyone is very comfortable here.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
All of the staff are friendly and eager to help. I asked them questions and receieved detailed answers. They are also very funny and seem truly caring.
Appearance of Campus:
4 - Very Good
It's probably much prettier in the spring;however, even in the fall when leaves are everywhere, Vandy is a quaint, picturesque campus. The campus is big, but easy to walk around to get to classes
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
The Commons is nice. Cool furniture, dining halls, etc. The buildings are mostly brick, stone, and are historic looking. Lots of renovations are going on though. Starbucks, Student LIfe Center..
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
The Commons is pretty nice! Neat, average size dorms with TILE floors, high ceilings, "hole-proof" wall. Co-ed by floor. Has its own gym, dining hall.
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
Vandy has its own accredited police force on campus at all times. theres vandy vans that can escort students everywhere, and student cards are used to access many places.
Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
Although it wasn't as AMAZING as I pictured,Vandy still impressed me. I could picture myself as a student there. I absolutetly loved it.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
Didn't really look around. Vandy is surrounded by Nashville streets on all sides, so its right in the middle of everything. going downtown is not a problem.
Campus Visit Notes for Vanderbilt University
Visit Description:
I went on the diverseVU tour from 8-3 pm. It was a great experience. We had breakfast, discussion with deans, admissions, financial aid, student panels, lunch at the Commons, and a campus tour. The tour was great. My tour guide was nice and very informative. Vandy seemed like a very caring environment. They especially seemed to emphasize lots of diversity and the involvement of students on campus is pretty evident.
Although I had already applied before coming to vandy, being there made everything so much more better and concrete. I loved it.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
car. walk if possible to Vandy, because parking is severly limited. Also, if you're visiting in the next couple months, steer clear of I-40West. We had to take a 2hr detour because of the rock sl
