Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - We began the visit by viewing a video presentation. The admission's staff gave an outstanding overview of Villanova and was an excellent speaker.

Campus Tour: Yes - To be honest, the tour was not thorough. We walked a bit around campus, but were not shown the athletic facilities, library, church, or inside of student center.

Perhaps the time of year, early spring, but we thought the landscaping could use help. Also, tons of cigarette butts littered the outside of the dorms, 1st college we've seen with this issue.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:

Difficult to find an open bathroom before 10 am on Saturday. The one we found needed supplies and cleaning.

Very small in an old building.

Security/Safety:

Who knows, no mention of security was provided in either the presentation or on the tour. In our experience, highly unusal since all other colleges we have visited make note of security operations.

Overall Campus Impression:

While we all felt that Villanova had excellent academic options, it just isn't a fit for our son. Did not have a welcoming atmosphere and we felt the facilities were a bit dated.

Campus Visit Notes for Villanova University

Visit Description:

While this was our first "official" college visit with our son, we visited numerous campus and participated in countless tours during our older daughter's search. Quite honestly, the tour provided at Villanova was the least comprehensive of any we've experienced. Other than walking us through the business college and peeking into a dorm room, we never really got to experience any of this university's facilities. Never laid eyes on the library, book store, student center, fitness center, or church.

We had high hopes for Villanova as we saw it as a good potential match for his academic interest -- business. However after visiting we felt that, for the high tuition level, the facilities were lacking. The student body is drawn heavily from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania and maybe that's why our son could not picture himsef attending this university for 4 years. We didn't feel this was an especially welcoming community, just our opinion though. Everyone was excited about the NCAA tournament and I'm sure the campus was celebrating the Nova victory later that day.
