Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: Yes - It was supposed to last 25 minutes, lasted 50. More like a conversation than an interview! Loved it!

Information Session: Yes - Great information! Talked about how a Wake education was for more than four years but for life. Lots of emphasis on research and small liberal arts experience.

Campus Tour: Yes - Probably the most beautiful campus I've been to! The tour guide was informative, gave us his email to contact after the tour. Made Wake out to be perfect for him.

While waiting for an interview, multiple admissions committee members introduced themselves to me and asked what I liked about Wake and tried to make me feel at home.

Little bit of construction before year started. Still one of, if not the, most beautiful school in the country! No litter to be seen!

Very clean since students hadn't moved in yet. Not sure if this would have been the same if I visited a week later, but it is college.

I already knew I'd be an ED applicant, but this visit just proved how much I loved Wake and how I hope this time next year I'll be at Wake as a student! Go Deacs!

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
2 - Fair

There are minimal options within walking distance of campus. A 2 miles or so from the football stadium and other eateries in one direction. And 3ish Miles to Stratford food and shopping.

City/Town/Community:

Winston-Salem definitely isn't your average college town. But you go to Wake knowing that, and most people seem to want the insecular experience.

Campus Visit Notes for Wake Forest University

Visit Description:

Wake Forest is the perfect school for me and the visit just proved that. I love the small Liberal Arts feel that Wake Forest provides while getting many of the opportunities that are only available at larger universities. I don't know many schools the size of Wake that emphasize research as much as Wake does which I love. And though it wasn't emphasized in the tour or in the info session, Wake is the third smallest D1 school in the country and that definitely doesn't hurt my opinion of Wake. One thing that did turn me off of Wake is their laptop program where every student gets a laptop their freshman year, and then it gets replaced junior year, but Wake cleared all my concerns about the program. It's apparently in it's last year currently, and Wake is exploring other options, including potentially giving every student a Mac! Which is exciting for me as a Mac user... Definitely a great school, and often underrated and overshadowed by Duke, when it is as capable of a school as the best of them. The Yale of the South.
