Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - The session was well-organized, with some good stories told by the host and a few students. The students, of course, were picked by the school to be the most amazing kids imaginable.

Campus Tour: Yes - Excellent tour. Wesleyan's campus is larger than you'd think for a school of 2800. The main "college row" says "quaint New England" but the rest is varied and interesting

The campus is really well maintained. The only thing that keeps it from an excellent rating right now is the construction junk for the new student center. That's supposed to be finished this fall

Middletown is a nice old mill town. Lots of big old houses, many renovated, right around the campus and Main Street was about a four minute walk downhill.

I liked Middletown. It had college student stuff, but also the feel of a real town.

Campus Visit Notes for Wesleyan University

Visit Description:

Wesleyan has a really good feel to it. I got a sense that there were lots of different kinds of people going here, and it would never be boring. Also I was getting a little tired of the "cute little college town" syndrome at other liberal arts colleges, and Middletown was definitely an antidote to that. Wesleyan's film studies center was awesome and I was intrigued by the College of Social Studies.
