Campus Visit Notes for Whitman College

Visit Description:

It takes a long time to get to Walla Walla, but the visit was worth it. Son is looking for an intellectually stimulating, somewhat "crunchy" school, and he fell in love with Whitman (and Walla Walla). Their personal approach helped him feel he could fit right in. I was impressed with the academic rigor. Son liked the small classes, and was intrigued by the freshman core seminars. There appears to be a lot of support for the students.

We are from Texas, so when the admissions officer saw that on the form, he said, "You're from Texas - we can always use a few articulate conservatives." My very liberal, out-spoken son and I both laughed. Too bad that "hook" won't apply for him!

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We stayed at the Comfort Inn and were pleasantly surprised. New, clean, nicely appointed, and very friendly staff.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

There are lots of excellent dining choices in Walla Walla, including a wide variety of menus. We made sure to select a local wine with our dinner.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Allow time to visit a winery or two!
