Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: No - N/a

Information Session: Yes - Excellent; I've been to about 8-10 colleges so far, and this one was top-notch. Conducted by a member of improv-comedy troupes; funny, but very informative. Easily discussed all topics/questions.

Campus Tour: Yes - Eh. Not bad. If your intent is to see the exteriors of the buildings, and get a feel for the campus, definitely go. However, if you want to see the insides of the buildings, you will be disappointed.

Classroom Visit: No - N/a

Campus:

I went a few days before Thanksgiving; most students were home. However, many that I talked to were friendly and willing to offer their thoughts on their experiences at Yale.

Only ran into one staff member during our tour, who stopped and conversed with us for a few minutes before continuing on his way.

Appearance of Campus:

Beautiful buildings all throughout New Haven, which appeared to be much nicer (at least around Yale) than I have been told.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
3 - Good

Only went into one or two buildings. One was under some degree of construction. However, the one that was not having work done was spotless.

Dormitories:

Only were able to look into main hall of one dormitory. High-backed wooden chairs, mahogany tables, stained glass, fireplaces, leather sofas...

Security/Safety:

Same as most other institutions of this caliber. Blue light phones all around campus, with police responding in <2 minutes. Escort services to dorms late at night.

Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
Liked just about everything. I'm not sure how well the campus suited me; I didn't personally get that "vibe" that this was my school. However, it is definitely a stunning campus.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
It's a city, but the area directly around Yale appeared to be one of the better parts.

City/Town/Community:
2 - Fair
2 - Fair
New Haven is dangerous.

Campus Visit Notes for Yale University

Visit Description:

No stellar anecdotes or anything like that. Everything pretty much stated above that I would include in here.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Frank Pepe's. Pizzeria in the Little Italy district of New Haven. Oldest pizza place in country. Absolutely amazing pizza; highly recommended.
