Tons of security around, blue lights. Didn't appear to be a problem if you used typical city precautions. [View Full Report] |

Granted, it's an urban environment, but within the bounds of Yale's campus, I never felt unsafe, and I saw blue boxes EVERYWHERE. [View Full Report] |

And if for some reason you don't feel safe, call campus police or the Yale Transit (special free student shuttle). [View Full Report] |

Didn't feel at all insecure, even in New Haven. I think progress has been made. [View Full Report] |

The campus is well defined. Certainly being in a small city, one must use common sense. All buildings are locked and only students with IDs can get into a building. You cannot roam/tour alone. [View Full Report] |

Same as most other institutions of this caliber. Blue light phones all around campus, with police responding in <2 minutes. Escort services to dorms late at night. [View Full Report] |

My only complaint here is the complete integration with New Haven. It wasn't even so much a concern about a bad neighborhood, but rather all the city traffic running through campus [View Full Report] |

Many parents expressed concern about safety as New Haven is a big city, but they all seemed pretty assured. Students have to scan in to dorms and there are emergency call buttons everywhere on campus. [View Full Report] |

The campus seemed secure. Blue lights of course and necessary precautions seemed to be taken. If you have street smarts, I don't see why you wouldn't be safe on campus. [View Full Report] |

New Haven has a bad reputation, but it seemed fairly nice, around the campus anyways, and Yale has blue security boxes almost every block. [View Full Report] |

New Haven is a scary place. Some people in town really hate Yalies, and there are homeless people everywhere, even on campus. [View Full Report] |

The clear openness of the campus can tickle the nerves a little, but there are always plenty of students walking around at almost all times of day, so feels safe. School has student escort service. [View Full Report] |

Seemed to have proper security measures in place for students/visitors who use good common sense. But it is in the heart of a city with a high crime rate, so you can't take your safety for grante [View Full Report] |

Again, it can clearly never provide the same level of security as, say, a suburban campus like Princeton. But for an urban campus, it seems fine. A friend and I walked around the campus at 2:00... but of course, you need to confine yourself to well-lit [View Full Report] |

Security phones are everywhere, mostly to dispel the myth that Yale is dangerous. According to our tour guide, another tour guide once picked up one of the phones and had a campus officer at his side in fourteen seconds. Well-lit. [View Full Report] |
