I transferred to Villanova from the University of Maryland. Sorry, I can't speak to the nursing school. However, I know that is one of the top programs out there and is regarded highly.
In my experience, Villanova offers a very comfortable environment. I can say that I certainly don't feel like a number which is something I loathed about UMD. Academically, it's respectable and I feel as though I'm actually being challenged and learning a lot.
In terms of social life, it can vary. Most of the partying at Nova takes place off campus at frat and bars. There isn't a ton going on on campus aside from the basketball and football games, but is a theater, pool/sports lounge, and some other spots to hang out. Philadelphia is only a twenty minute trip away and that opens your options up considerably (theaters, clubs, jazz joints, sports arenas, parks, etc.). Villanova is what you make it. If you're the kind of person who expects to have fun handed to them, you won't have a good time. I've met a good group of people who are willing to step off campus and explore a bit so I'm having a good time.
Oh yeah. Villanova is expensive. Keep that in mind.
