Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - The admissions director spoke first and he had the students & parents ask any questions they wanted. Then a student panel came in to answer questions.
Campus Tour:
Yes - Our tour guide was helpful and told us a lot of different stuff about all the places we visited. Large campus but see enough of it to get a feel for the place. Didn't get to see a dorm though.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
The student panel was helpful and a lively bunch. The tour guide was nice. I wish I had visited on a weekday though so I could have talked to more students.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
3 - Good
Helpful but didn't interact with them much and no chance to speak to faculty.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
I personally think they have a gorgeous campus. Beautiful cathedral-looking buildings.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
Everything seemed maintained.
Dormitories:
3 - Good
I only got to see pictures and there are many different types to choose from.
Security/Safety:
3 - Good
The campus seems fairly safe with those boxes that all have.
Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
Beautiful campus. It is so big though and I do wish I had stayed overnight to explore more.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
4 - Very Good
City/Town/Community:
4 - Very Good
Campus is located in Chestnut Hill -- seemed to be a nice, quaint area. Boston not far away -- take the train or whatever it's called. Lots to do in Boston. I love that city!
Campus Visit Notes for Boston College
Visit Description:
I enjoyed my visit but with such a large campus you definitely want to stay overnight to get a better feel for it I think. I encourage you to visit on a weekday so you can talk to more students.
Yes, there is a student panel during the info session but these are kids who work at the admissions office and really love the school. I think it would've been better for me to get the perspective of someone just around campus walking about to see their perspective. I think I would've gotten more open, honest answers too because the kids on the student panel were answering questions while the admissions director was right there. Also, when I visited, I did note though that the seniors in the panel did not seem too sure of their plans after graduation which is kind of worrisome.
