Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Very different from other info sessions- a member of the admissions staff commented as four current students answered questions about their experience.

Campus Tour: Yes - BC is the largest school I have looked at, but I really liked the campus. Even though the buildings are of the gothic style, most of them gave me the impression that they were recently renovated.

Campus:

I didn't talk to any students other than those in the IS, but they seemed mostly friendly.

We did not go into the dorms, but they aren't quite ideal. Some are on a seperate campus a mile away, some students were in "forced triples"- 3 students in a double. But they are trying

I had no reason to think it wasn't excellent.

Of all of the aspects of the school, the campus was definitely one of my favorites.

Boston MA is a $2 subway ride away, so if you like the city, it is almost ideal.

Campus Visit Notes for Boston College

Visit Description:

The college seems ideal other than maybe academics. Again, I visited mostly smaller schools where 100% of the classes are taught by professors, 8:1 student-fac. ratio, and average class sizes of 13, but it is not the same at BC. About 10% of classes are taught by TAs, it is a 13:1 S/F, and the average class is around 25 students. This, despite what was said at the IS, should make for a little more impersonal experience and less of a "small community" atmosphere. But if you are looking for more of a university experience near a big city, this is an ideal school for you. I will apply here.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

I parked in the Beacon St. garage, had no problem getting out of Boston.
