Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - The information session had one admissions counselor and two students that covered the basics about Boston University and answered questions. They weren't able to answer everyone's questions
Campus Tour:
Yes - The tour was of half of the campus with the guide giving more information about each college of the university when we passed it. We visited one dorm room in Towers.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
I didn't speak to anyone besides the tour guide, but he was very friendly and nice.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
The receptionist we spoke to in the visitors building was very kind when she directly us to the admissions office. The people in the admissions office were pretty nice as well.
Appearance of Campus:
3 - Good
The campus is what I expected from a university in a city. It had lots of concrete and buildings. Near the river, though, there was more grass and sunny areas.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
The buildings we visited, including the student union, were very clean and well maintained.
Dormitories:
3 - Good
The dorm we visited was pretty average for a college dorm room. It was pretty small with a double bed and a desk at the side. The guide told us that other dorm rooms had loft beds and desks underneath
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
The area where the campus is located seemed pretty safe, plus there were a few blue light emergency stands around the campus. The tour guide said the campus had their own police.
Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
The campus was pretty nice although there wasn't very much grass. It's a bit strange that the campus is linear instead of a square shape.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
The area around campus had many shops and restaurants. It looked like a great place to be.
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
Boston seems like a great city from what I've seen of it in the last few days.
Campus Visit Notes for Boston University
Visit Description:
The information session was fairly boring and uninteresting, but the tour was amazing. Someone actually asked the tour guide if the information session and testimonials by the students were scripted. The tour guide was humorous and well informed. He made an effort to speak on every college that any of the tour attendees had an interest in.
The admissions office was sort of difficult for us to find. We got lost and walked the entire length of Boston University before finding it.
We visited during freshman orientation so there were many new students and parents walking around.
From what everyone said, Boston University seems like a pretty interesting place to attend.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
We rode the T to the University although it is kind of confusing because there are 5 stops in front of the University because it is so long.
