Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - The Boston University information session was extremely informative. The admissions officer giving the the information was candid and open.
Campus Tour:
Yes - The tour was very generic... The tour guides simply repeated, at times verbatim, the same information the information session officer said (and the same jokes).
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
On the subway I asked a student sporting BU gear what they thought of the school, & they were very enthusiastic. Though, when walking around campus lots of students were glued to electronics.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
The staff was punctual, informative, and friendly. Even when looking for a place to grab a bite to eat an admissions person went out of their way with a list of recommendations & directions.
Appearance of Campus:
3 - Good
The campus lacks the charm of a school like Boston College (though I prefer BU more). In some areas more than others it lacks architectural beauty & open space.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
3 - Good
Buildings were well kept. Some were beautiful, others less... All were clean though.
Dormitories:
3 - Good
I only saw one dormitory, and it was the typical college dormitory. Not too small, but not too large.
Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
I was very impressed with security on campus. Blue lights with a guaranteed 90 second response from police, IDs required to enter buildings. Perfect for city safety.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
I really enjoy BU. Students who want a large university in a nice city should check it out.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
Ideal location in Boston in my opinion.
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
I love Boston.
Campus Visit Notes for Boston University
Visit Description:
BU was a very impressive visit. The tour, maybe for the size of our group (supposedly the largest they've ever had), was very generic though (we couldn't go inside most places due to the size of the tour group). This being said, the tour guides basically just repeated verbatim the same information previously covered in the information session.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
Uburger, very close to BU... Best burger I've ever had!
