Campus Visit Notes for Bucknell University

Visit Description:

I loved Bucknell and my son definitely says he is going to apply. He hasn't got a first choice school yet, though. Bucknell seems like the kind of place where, if you feel comfortable with the students there when you visit, you will like going to the school. Everyone there looks happy and comfortable. The administration is a cut above what I have found at other schools. Lewisburg seems to be a very safe college town, unlike some of the dumpy small towns or inner city neighborhoods where some colleges are located. We looked at the computer science and economics departments and took the engineering tour. Computer science seems to be pretty good, although not as good as Carnegie Mellon. They have all the right courses, but the depth of each course is not as great as CMU. The economics department offers a variety of courses.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We stayed at All Suites Inn. It was dumpy looking from the outside. The building where the rooms are located is a prefab. However, the room was spacious and clean. Nice to have a kitchen.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Everyone recommended that we eat at Bull Run Inn so we did. It was fine.
